Read and Listen
If you like what I say on this blog, just know that I got this far by reading and listening. There is a famous quote from the 12th century that basically says, “We can see as far as we see by standing on the shoulders of giants.” This meant that people know what they know only because of the people that came before them.
We can ignorantly turn on a light in our house without ever knowing how electricity (or a lightbulb) really works. Most things in our lives we take for granted. I don’t know how a car, or phone, or computer, or guitar, or many other things work. But I use them.
Anyway, the point is that the way you learn anything in life is from experience or from others. That is it. I love learning, but I don’t want to learn everything from experience. So I am going to read as much as I can and listen to others that I trust and respect. Reading truly allows you to use your brain in processing each word. I strongly suggest that you read and you listen A LOT. I don’t think you can ever go wrong if you do that.
