Never Point Your Nose Up
I just got home from doing a national tour with a couple of great bands, The Scenic and Just Surrender. It’s funny. I went to my church on my way home last night and went to the Thanksgiving Communion Service. It was weird going from touring with bands who drink, and party, and do drugs to stepping into a church full of suits and ties. Definitely a change in scenery. But let me tell you, I treat the people in that church exactly the same way I treated everyone on the tour.
It doesn’t matter if people don’t believe in the same things as you, or live the same lifestyle. They are people and that is more than enough of a reason to give them a lot of respect. I love those bands despite our differences in lifestyles. Truthfully, I think I’d rather tour with bands like that than tour with “Christian” bands. It seems more real.
There are few things I hate more then when people turn their nose up at others. I know that if some of the guys on our tour walked into a church, people would stare and wonder, “What is he doing here?” That is wrong. It is never ever right.
Jesus hung out with prostitutes, drunks, and tax collectors. His friends were very much “sinners”. So don’t ever point your nose up at someone else or another group if they aren’t the same as you.
